About GRRRLZ Rock!

GRRRLZ ROCK is a month-long festival in the greater Eugene area celebrating the contributions women make to the local arts.

Music, dance, theater, visual arts, comedy--they are all part of what defines GRRRLZ ROCK! Served up together, they unite our community in support of equality, empowerment and good old fashioned rock n roll!

Now in its fourth year, GRRRLZ ROCK continues to grow, rounding out its concert series with a tantalizing potluck of other powerful, focused and exciting events, encouraging intelligent discourse on gender, safety, sexuality, health, happiness and good times for women of all ages.

Join the feast and celebrate the message: GRRRLZ really do ROCK!

It was a cold December day when I entered this world, since then I have lived a humble life confined to Veneta, OR until the day I discovered punk rock when I was 13. I went head over heels for it, as I am today still. I attended school in Elmira until 10th grade when I refused to go another day, (it really sucked), I then enrolled at Network Charter School and continued my education, expecting to graduate June 2010. NCS is the root of so many things for me, it has brought me out of an angry shell to be a happy, intelligent, confident young women with many opportunities. Recently I landed a great internship with the one and only Cindy Ingram and get to help with Grrrlz Rock! I also work with the local punk rock sensations Brother Bear & The Skitzo Punx. I don't get pushed around and I've got a big heart for the things I care about.

Stephanie grew up in the wildness of Texas and left when she was 18 to explore the great Northwest. After studying her butt off and earning a B.S. in Physics with a minor in music she then did what was expected and took jobs within her field. However, Stephanie realized that it was music, d.i.y. culture, film and the integration of these with technology that she truly wanted to pursue. Equipped with a vision and inspiration she hopes to further pursue these passions. A few key musicians that truly inspire her are Emily Haines, Khaela Maricich and Karen O. She is very excited to be working with Grrrlz Rock!, especially because they support woman who rock and because working with Cindy is totally rad.

My life has been interesting in its own. I grew up an only child with my mom. I have been living in Oregon for 14 years now, and I have lived in other states as well including California and Washington. I served briefly in the armed services, and was sent home on a medical leave. I have now been pursuing my academic success ever since. For the past 3-4 years, I have become an inspiring philosopher and have taken an interest in different religions and cultures and enjoy their histories. I plan to move far into such things as a personal goal for myself.
