Armitage Solutions Armitage Solutions Matrisha Armitage is the owner of a local bookkeeping company, Armitage Solutions, and has been servicing small businesses and families in Eugene for over five years with their bookkeeping and organizational needs. She enjoys singing and playing drums with her husband in their band Bajuana Tea and when she is not hard at work helping clients organize their lives, managing investment rental properties or playing music with friends, she is relaxing with a good book or trying to get some exercise.
Caught in the Act Productions Caught in the Act Productions With over 15 years of experience and a music database of over 25,000 songs, Caught In The Act has the juice to make a party flow. The CITA DJs will literally bend over backwards to make your party a rocking success: “All of our D.J.'s will 'Mix it up' with the crowd and encourage participation! We'll do the 'Limbo', the Hokey Pokey... whatever it takes to make sure a good time is had by everyone!” On November 17th come get caught in the act of a good time, listen to grandma karaoke some Patti Smith, and eat some foods during the Grrrlz Rock Family Kareoke Night.
Cherry Blossom Musical Arts Cherry Blossom Musical Arts Cherry Blossom Musical Arts a is unique performing arts organization who aren't afraid to be ridiculous to make you laugh. As a non-profit organization established in 2005 by Paul Safar and Nancy Wood, Cherry Blossom has been bringing charming and family-fun shows. The shows prove to be artistic, theatrical, acrobatic, quirky and always musical. Kind of like if Monty Python's Flying Circus were an opera. Cherry Blossom shows have run at many diverse venues from the Oregon Country Fair to the Hult Center. Safar has composed original scores and Wood has succeeded in theatrical writing and choreography while both have used their musical talents to perform in the shows. Cherry Blossom will be gracing the Grrrlz Rock! stage with a performance of “The Cat and Bird Vaudeville Extravaganza” .
Cindy Ingram Booking & Promotions
Cindy Ingram B&P Is it a bird? Is it a plane? NO, its Super Music Promoter Extraordinaire, Cindy Ingram. Cindy is the engine behind the machine that is Grrrlz Rock! as well as many other aspects of Eugene's music scene. Cindy Ingram Booking and Promotions started almost four years ago when she saw a need for the local bands, including ones with her friends, to have a good promotional resource. Although Cindy has established herself as a bonafide professional promotion and booking agent (the only female promotions agent in Oregon!), she is refreshingly down to Earth and knows how to rock!
Cozmic Pizza Our sponsor and venue for two Grrrlz Rock shows! Cozmic Pizza My thought when I first visited Cozmic Pizza was that it lived up to its name because it felt... “spacey”. With its big open warehouse space with cosmic murals Cozmic Pizza offers yummy, unique pizza creations made with organic ingredients and family farm produce, cheeses, and meats and they even offer gluten free options. To save some dough try their nightly pizza-by-the slice deals. Cozmic Pizza is also a vibrant venue for music, science lectures, dancing, political meetings, and even crafts. But that's not all... Cozmic Pizza is sorta like one of those Russian nested dolls because within the building itself even more can be found: a coffee shoppe, a couple bookstores (one is in the basement) and a full-service internet lounge. Another wicked cool feature: their delivery car is an electric Gizmo. For an out-of-this-world experience come to one of the many Grrrlz Rock! concerts at Cozmic Pizza.
Grrrlz Rock LOVES the Eugene Weekly! Eugene Weekly If you've lived in Eugene any amount of time then you are most likely familiar with The Eugene Weekly. The Eugene Weekly monitors the heartbeat of the Emerald City. Founded in 1982, EW provides its 84,000 readers with informative and engaging articles covering local issues and events. To find out about interesting events happening throughout the week such as concerts, lectures, art shows, festivals, etc., a reader needs only to flip through the EW's detailed calender of events section. EW's quarterly Chow! restaurant guide and the annual Best of Eugene issues are just a few more reasons why this newspaper rocks. What I like about EW: respectable movie reviews, schedules of concerts, articles that challenge the status quo, and its free!
Holly.. Shes our sponsor and our graphic designer Galahad Productions Galahad Productions is a husband and wife dynamic duo with Holly Miller creating edgy graphic design and Lance Miller doing producing and sound engineering for music organizations all over Eugene. Lance is a rocker in his own right as he has been the producer for three local bands and has released two original albums. Galahad Productions donates both their awesome talents along with the big bucks to make Girlz Rock as amazing as it can be!
Girls Aloud Girls Aloud! This sponsor is a new kid on the block and is pretty damn cool: Girls Aloud Dance Party Social. Their name describes exactly what its about: female+dancing+socializing+fun. Girls Aloud organizes all-age welcomed dance parties at Cozmic Pizza to a mix of disco, funk, 80s & 90s and pop. Laura's objective was to create a place where womyn who are not comfortable or interested in going to queer (or non-queer) bars to socialize and have fun. Also, there are older and younger (under 21) womyn in the community that needed an alternative to the bar scene to have kick-ass good time . “Womyn come in, buy a brew, eat a pizza, dance a bit, and catch up with old friends or meet new ones queer and non-queer, although the majority is queer” says Laura McNamara. It also rocks that these Girls Aloud dancing shenanigans are giving back to the community by supporting organizations such as Food For Lane County, SASS and Soromundi Lesbian Choir. Girls Aloud will wrap up the final Grrrlz Rock music fest with a dance party on November 28.
Hotskateers Hotskateers The Three Hotskateers will storm the castle walls declaring “All for fun and fun for all!”. Since October of 2008 the Three Hotskateers have been bringing fearless fun to Eugene. Hosting events with decorations, food, music, and costuming in line with a common, unique theme, their parties are memorable affairs. Past events such as last year's Hollywood Glamour Gala New Year's Eve, a Battle Dance party and the DANCE MOB were a riotous success. On November 7 the Three Hotskateers will bring their gallant adventures to Grrrlz Rock! during the Prehistoric Beastz and Beatz party at The District.
Human Rights Commission Human Rights Commission Eugene's Human Rights Commission is the city's voice for justice. Since 1990 the commission has worked to educate the public, advocate the discriminated, and monitor emerging issues within the city of Eugene. The Human Rights Commission exists to counter the discrimination and harassment that losers impose on folks. If the little activist inside you is inspired its easy to get involved, their monthly meetings are open to the public and presentations and panel discussions are held regularly to discuss important human rights issues relevant to the community. More rockers less haters! Grrrlz Rock! is proud to be sponsored by the Human Rights Commission.
Brian... the website man. Thats right.. boyz can rock too!
Iconoguy

Returning for the third year in a row as a Grrrlz Rock! sponsor, Iconoguy is a boundary breaking, iconoclastic, rocking design company. Iconoguy successfully supports the advertising and media needs of many Eugene and Portland groups, businesses, events and individuals. Past clients include Cozmic Pizza, Bombay Palace, WOW Hall, Hawthorne Theater, Eugene Rodeo and Grrrlz Rock! Their services include posters, illustrations, stickers, business cards, website development, and clothing apparel.

With interactive flash games and rad cartoon avatars like “The Hunk” (1 part Elvis and 1 part "The Tick"), it is clear that the icono-guys, Brian Hahn and son Ryan Hahn, find enjoyment in their work. It is equally clear from the caliber of their previous projects that they possess a high quality of professionalism. With a customized designs and a diversity of styles Iconoguy is not afraid to challenge the status quo in design. Also, the old-school Iconoguy VW van wins awesome points.

John Henry's Club John Henry's Club John Henry's holds a strange and exciting place in my heart. A place filled with bright colors, sweat, synth sounds and dancing... so much dancing. Yes, I'm talking about thursday nights; 80's night. Just watch the music video for Bar-Kays' “Freakshow On The Dance Floor” and you'll get the idea. The history of John Henry's is as colorful as the 80s night dance floor (read it on their website). The original movers and shakers of John Henry's such as Lucy Lizzard and Jiven were part of the bar when it opened in 1992 with the Cherry Poppin Daddies. In addition to 80s night, John Henry's holds a Hip Hop vs Reggae night, Michael vs. Prince dance parties, and the only burlesque show in Eugene. Live performances have always been a part of the bar's appeal as well. A few live performers have included artists such as Ingrid Michaelson, The Southland, and a plethora of local bands. Complete with free pool until 10pm and a variety of drink specials each night, John Henry's is fully equipped to handle the crowds it attracts. You can be sure Grrrlz Rock! shows will attract the crowds, so don't miss the live performance on November 6.
Lane Arts Council Lane Arts Council Since 1976 Lane Arts Council has worked hard to ensure that the arts are alive and kicking in Eugene. LAC is a community-based non-profit organization and brings so many valuable programs, resources, and events to the cities of Lane County. Roaming the streets of downtown Eugene and wandering into various galleries during a First Friday ArtWalk is a charming way to spend an evening, all thanks to The Lane Arts Council. Schools of Lane County benefit from the LAC's Arists in Residency programs that bring professional artists, musicians, and performers to guide kids in the exploration of the visual and performing arts. It is through the support from local businesses, individuals and other local, state, and national organizations that LAC is able to assist artistic endeavors such as the Multi-Cultural Storytelling Festival, Faerieworlds Festival and Grrrlz Rock!.
Mujeres Salon & Spa Mujeres Salon The people at Mujeres Salon and Spa are kick-back, fun-loving, cool people who build friendships rather than clients. Rachel Travis opened the salon six years ago and has a posse of rockstar stylists who team up to offer services such as facials, body scrubs and wraps, manicures, pedicures, body waxing, tanning, and massage. Mujeres exudes a stylish, edgy vibe, but their relaxed and comfortable environment makes those of all ages whose styles range from mohawks to popper dresses feel at home. Mujeres is located downtown Eugene between The Steelhead brewery and The Oregon Electric Station. Come on down November 7 for a Grrrlz Rock! pre-funk party and experience their specialty up-do talents for free!
Ninkasi Brewing... They rock!! (Drink it, its good to support sponsors right?) another excuse for more.... Ninkasi Brewing Its surprising that in just three years a company is able to establish themselves as an iconic part of a town, but that is exactly what Ninkasi Brewing Company has done in Eugene. Ninkasi Brewing Co offers a great selection of beers that are damn good. They are the winners of this year's poll for Best Pacific Northwest Craft Brewery and last year Ninkasi sold the equivalent of 14,000 kegs of beer! Jamie Floyd and Nikos Ridge are the ring leaders behind Ninkasi and are just as dedicated to supporting the community's culture as they are to supporting its social lubrication. Ninkasi has been heavily involved in the activities of the community in Eugene and Portland and are especially committed to supporting local musicians, so its no surprise that they are enthusiastic supporters of Grrrlz Rock. Ninkasi, the Sumarian's goddess of beer, is said to satisfy the desire and sate the heart. Why not come get satisfied and satiated by enjoying some Ninkasi Total Domination IPA with some Grrrlz Rock this November?!

The David Minor Theatre The David Minor Theatre How does getting lit and watching The Empire Strikes Back on a big screen while sitting in a comfy chair with friends and munching on food sound? Good? Then The David Minor Theater & Pub should be on your to-do list. With two theaters (one seats 15 and the other seats 50) the David Minor Theater has been offering a 21+ luxurious movie experience with menu options from neighboring restaurants for almost a year now. Great restaurants such as Lucky Noodle and Cornucopia are among the local contributors to the menu. The theater offers one of the most awesome services ever: text-for-a-beer-from-your-seat. Buzzed film viewing FTW! Tickets to see older films and new releases are affordable and make this a great date location, especially to see the sexy Grrrlz Rock! themed indie film on November 12. The theater's name honors owner Josh Goldfarb's good friend David Minor whose death is also commemorated by the locally famous 13th and Willamette ghost bike memorial.
The District The District The District (formerly The Indigo District) is a bar with good drink specials and a late-night dance scene by night and a relaxed coffee shop with free wi-fi by day. This bar has seen many changes since it first opened about five years ago, including a change of ownership and remodeling the interior for a more modern, urban look this last April. The District features dance parties every weekend including District Dance-offs on Thursdays, (Grand prize is $250). With two stages, The District is able to host live music shows, including some all-ages early shows. Best of all, all profits from their daytime coffee lounge go to support a local dog charity that helps dogs receive life-saving surgeries. The District will be hosting some live Grrrlz Rock! shows. Don't miss it!
The Merry Hempsters The Merry Hempsters Our environmentally friendly and health conscious friends at the Merry Hempsters offer a wide variety of hemp based balms and salves that ensure everything from your lips retaining that moist sparkle to soothing the dermatological doozies on your doggies deltoids. While they have not yet created an ointment to turn you into a rock star, their support for Grrrlz Rock! is an acceptable substitute until science can catch up.
Wandering Aengus Ciderworks Wandering Aengus Ciderworks There is applesauce, and then there is that special blend of apple flavored devils sauce that Wandering Aengus Ciderworks specializes in. With three kinds of cider, a dessert wine, and a love of Celtic folklore, Wandering Aengus seeks to bring the craic (Gaelic for music and fun) to the Eugene community. Supporting Grrrlz Rock! is just one more way WAC has insured Eugene is full of the craic.
WREN WREN This one time I rode my bike through the part of west Eugene's 3000 acres of wetlands on the Amazon Bike path and I stopped to observe turtles, baby ducks, and a Great Blue Heron. It was a good time. Clearly, anything with baby ducks is. To experience this type of wilderness escapade, check out the Willamette Resource and Education Network (WREN) . There are several endangered species that make their home in the Wetlands. I especially wouldn't mind seeing the endangered Fenders Blue Butterfly, which is found only in the Willamette Valley. After a full-winded rocking out you could check out WREN's volunteer and educational programs.

Emge & Whyte CPA's Book balancing is a talent that the people of Emge & Whyte do with grace and skill. No, they are not a group of small acrobatic Asians with long sticks and spinning plates, they are an accounting firm that has been around for more than 50 years. Their 8 full time staff members will tantalize you with their amazing bookkeeping, accounting, and tax service skills. Emge and Whyte are proud supporters of the arts in Eugene and have done a lot of pro bono work for nonprofits such as the Eugene Ballet, Eugene Opera, Lord Leebrick Theater, Lane Arts Council, and Maude Kerns Art Center to name a few.
Eugene's Alternative Realtors Don't turn that dial because this is Eugene's only alternative Realty group. Dave and Pam have been selling houses in the vein of your favorite B side, which are just too cool for mainstream lamos. With successful marketing strategies and virtual tours on their easy-to-use website, Eugene's Alternative Realtors make browsing for available properties a cinch. Eugene's Alternative Realtors have been rocking out since 1999 and have an ever growing fan base as can be seen from the numerous testimonials on their website.

KWVA KWVA, eighty-eight point one-derful, is the University of Oregon's student run radio station. KWVA is one of my favorite radio stations since moving to Eugene. Why? Because they play some of the best music that comes out, because the DJs are waaaay less annoying (usually) than mainstream radio DJs and because thinking, laughing, and being inspired are invoked. Since KWVA isn't stifled by the bureaucracy of a large radio station, the DJs have the freedom to broadcast new and innovative music. This freedom allows for some strange stuff too, but I'd rather have weird than bland. Providing a diversity of music, talk, and independent news programs, KWVA has something for everyone. Tune into 88.1 FM during the month of November for some Grrrlz Rock! coverage.

Pacific NW Comedy Festival Returning to Grrrlz Rock!, the Pacific Northwest Women’s Comedy Festival loves to make people laugh. Since I will never be able to be as funny as these ladies I will just give you a brief summary: 1)Consists of 13 Female Comedians including founder Leigh Anne. 2) 4th year performing. 3) See them as part of the Grrrlz Rock! festival on November 21st. 4) They are better than Bette Midler.
Saturday Market Its a place where the hippies of Eugene convene, where the sound of drumming and the spectacle of hoola hooping converges with local creatives. Since 1970 the Eugene Saturday Market, the original Saturday market of Oregon, has been the marketplace for local handcrafters, artisans, and farmers. Each Saturday starting from 10am to 5pm crowds can roam the market, listen to musical performances, eat from an ethnically diverse array of food carts and enjoy this weekly uniquely Eugene tradition. Once the weather gets cold Saturday Market morphs into the indoor Holiday Market and is a great place to do your holiday shopping.
Siren Nation A fellow female festival, the Siren Nation Women's Music and Arts Festival is an event that rocks in the spirit of Grrrlz Rock!. In its third year, the festival will feature women-fronted music performances, art exhibits, film debuts, crafts, and some rad workshops. Siren Nation’s mission is to inspire and empower women of all ages to create their own art and to highlight the many achievements of women in the arts. Their vision of a society where gender plays no part in determining an artists’ potential for success, for being heard or for being seen is a vision that the Grrrlz Rock! Festival wholeheartedly shares. Check it out November 5-8 in Portland!
Stillpoint Farms Stillpoint Farms pridefully grows juicy, fresh, natural, locally grown berries available at their U-Pick stand in Veneta. And if this delicious rainbow of produce is not enticing enough, Kathy and Gina ensure that they serenade their budding fruits with a summer concert lineup. Their devotion to exposing these young impressionable berries to music makes them an especially appropriate and appreciated Grrrlz Rock! supporter.
