Once upon a time there was a young pirate in Eugene. This pirate loved to dance. He twisted his long mustache, slicked back his hair and put on a white suit with blue shoes. This pirate danced at John Henry’s. No one paid him any mind. Sometimes you just gotta be - without a care for what the pretty people are doing across the street. Bring your attitude, but don’t expect anyone to care while you dance, shoot some pool or sit back in the dark in this well worn bar. 21 and over only.

What could be more patriotic than a cotillion-style ballroom encircled with wooden chairs, No Gum Chewing signs and icicle lighting all looked over by an American flag and George and Abe, two presidents even Eugenites have a hard time criticizing? If that’s not your type of America, there’s alcohol nearby. The Vet’s Club offers a social scene to play and lounge in with Mac’s bar available for drinks. Seriously though: no gum.

The Wildish Theatre
630 Main St.,
Springfield, OR 97477
Google Map

Revitalized implies a former live of vitality. In its past life the Wildish Theater housed emotive musicals, raunchy horrors, and classic black and white on the big screen, likely with its share of nervous first dates, taboo make out sessions and sweet evenings out. As part of downtown Springfield’s revitalization, the old movie theater’s guts were replaced with comfy stadium seating and a live stage. Enjoy the modern amenities with a perfect view from every seat.

If these floors could talk, they’d have some ramblings about Depression-era square dancing, ballroom horseplay and more recent drum circles. It’d be best to nod and let the music tune it all out before heading below for a drink. For decades the WOW Hall has staged countless events and entertainment in its vast ballroom. Be prepared to mill about this expansive open space. A beer garden is available downstairs for 21+.
