Monica Metzler (Moniker)
Monica Metzler started playing music when she was 7 years old and her childlike yearning for musical learning hasn't ceased since then. She plays a variety of instruments including guitar, vocals, piano, ethnic percussion and drums as well as collaborates in several diverse NW projects including Moniker, Timbral Hut, Now Dawning, Belly Full of Bob and The Monica Metzler String Trio.
Whatever manifestation you may catch her in, you'll witness the power of vulnerability and soul seen in music from the days of Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughn. Monica plays a self-dubbed mix of neo-swing, dirty jazz and evil folk and has been compared to the likes of Bjork, Billie, Regina Spektor and Melody Gardot. Her debut album, "Oceanic" is to be released this November on Louie Records with long-time musical partners Dave Storrs and Nick Rivard. Her 6 piece band Moniker (from Eugene) is also recording an EP at Sprout City Studios to be out in due time. One thing is for sure, Monica Metzler is indeed an up and coming facet on the NW scene whether you catch her busking on the streets, playing with a 6 piece big band or 3 piece improv jazz combo. Keep an eye out for Monica Metzler (who also goes by alias Moniker), she's definitely a force to be reckoned with! Monica Metzler Facebook Monica Metzler Myspace |
