Smoke Jumpers
Smoke Jumpers is a three piece experimental project fronted by Amanda Gerth. With gypsy its influences in folk and jazz or more precisely and swing , this rolling and roaring display of lyrical frenzy is backed by solid bass notes and sweltering percussive backup.
Amanda Gerth writes and composes the music using the ukulele and guitar. Her vision was to use these instruments in a totally new and non- traditional way. This project started as a band called Dirty Birdies Etc, which lasted from the end 2008 to the summer of 2009. With a new percussionists/Tablas player, Tina Qutina (Samba Ja, Maca Rey ), the bands transition led to new ideas and a new name. Bo, whom normally plays lead guitar, (Sweet Island Thyme, Honky Funk , Maca Rey) became a natural bass player, complimenting Amanda’s style and swing. Bo also juggles with a KAOS Pad to create windy elemental atmospheres. The Smoke Jumpers thrive on creating an imaginative landscape for a mature audience. Combining nursery rhyme settings with bohemian brawls, ruckus and a little voodoo. Smoke Jumpers Myspace Smoke Jumpers YouTube |
