Super Honey

Super Honey is an all-female live bass music experience unlike anything you’ve ever danced to. Fusing found sounds, complex vocal harmonies, banjo looping, live percussion, leap motion-controlled synth modulation, and ultra-deep bass, Super Honey brings all the toys you’ve never seen to create an immersive live experience. What makes for a truly unique is their use of original samples: the hiss a match makes when extinguished in water, the clanking of house keys, and the rhythmic cycling of bike gears.

Producer Tiana Husted started developing her signature creepy sound as part of the music technology program at Lane Community College in late 2013, with the track Spectacle. Melissa Randel of The Great Hiatum developed vocal harmonies for this first track and the two developed a lasting collaboration bolstered by their close friendship. Over the ensuing months, they developed a deeply unique sound while expanding their material and incorporating elements ranging from trip-hop and trap to downtempo. They are heavily influenced by female musicians such as Cocorosie as well as epic producers in the vein of Tipper.

In 2015, the duo made their debut at venues in downtown Eugene to carve their own unique niche in the booming Eugene electronic music scene: that of female, live, experimental electronic artists. They have generated attention not only for their creative sound and uses of technology, but also by inviting guest musicians for short-term collaborations. Most recently, they featured Ben Latimer of Soul Vibrator on saxophone and flute. Super Honey is a truly original project that will give you a new perspective on all that is possible in electronic music.
